Timothy Yabuki
Hi, I'm Timothy, A game and combat designer with a background in Esports. I'm currently an ATEC undergrad at the University of Texas at Dallas with a focus on game design. I've worked on all sorts of indie projects from fighting games to card games, and have worn all sorts of hats throughout my time in game development.
My primary focus is making the game feel good to play. A game could be the most fun, well balanced game of all time, but if what makes a game fun isn't clearly communicated to the player it's all for nothing. In Untitled Pot Game (working title), Enemies die in one hit. The VFX I did for the game really work to sell the feeling of satisfaction a player gets when they outplay their opponent.

In a game like Kangaroo Court where the rules change constantly, the UI/UX design has to do a lot of heavy lifting to make it clear what changed between turns.
Completed Projects
Kangaroo Court is a digital card game where the rules can change at any time. I helped design the system mechanics and card effects for this game and also did the majority of the pixel art work. This game got 3rd place in the TAGD Spring 2020 game jam.

Flooded City Time Trial
Flooded City Time Trial is a Unity racing game where you get a better score by completing the course with as much time remaining as possible. The entire project was completed by myself including level design, music, art assets, scripting, ect.

The Great Gun Heist
The Great Gun Heist is a Unity FPS game where you brave the hostile enemy star ship of the Ventus Cruiser in order to steal the experimental weapon. The project was made using the Unity FPS kit, but a large portion of the art assets and some custom scripting was done for this project.

Safe Haven
Safe Haven is a puzzle game where players have to find their way through an abandoned ruin that they can't always see the end of. For this game jam project, I did the scripting and some of the pixel art work.​
